EZO Guitars began with a simple idea: guitar building shouldn’t be limited to copying what already exists.
What started as a passion for building instruments has grown into a workshop focused on craftsmanship, engineering, and open design. Today, we create custom instruments, precision shop tools, routing templates, and openly documented projects that help builders around the world.
Every project begins with a problem worth solving: better ergonomics, cleaner construction, more repeatable tooling, easier access to reliable plans, or simply a more interesting instrument. We combine traditional woodworking with modern design, digital fabrication, and real-world prototyping to turn those ideas into tools and instruments that can actually be built, played, repaired, and improved.
We do not build differently for the sake of being different. We build differently because there is a better answer.
Our instruments and tools are developed through physical prototypes, test cuts, printed fixtures, revised templates, and completed builds. Dimensions are checked against real hardware. Fit, access, manufacturing order, repairability, and available tooling are considered before a design is treated as finished.
The result is work that is not merely attractive on a screen. It is intended to be understood, reproduced, maintained, and used.
Guitar design has traditionally been guarded, fragmented, or reduced to incomplete drawings and questionable templates. We believe builders deserve something better.
The EZO Open Guitar Platform documents complete instrument designs with practical files, measured geometry, production templates, revision history, and build information. Builders are free to study the work, make their own instruments, adapt supported designs, and contribute what they learn.
The Venus de Milo platform is the beginning: a modern instrument family developed in the open and refined through real builds.
EZO instruments are not assembled from a fixed catalog of cosmetic options. Each one begins with the player, the purpose, and the material available.
Scale length, neck geometry, hardware, electronics, balance, access, construction method, and visual direction are treated as parts of the same design. The goal is not simply to produce something unusual. The goal is to create an instrument whose choices make sense together.
Some builds are one-off experiments. Others become prototypes for designs that may eventually be documented, revised, and released through the open source guitar platform.
The finished instrument is only part of the story.
We document repairs, prototypes, custom builds, tooling experiments, mistakes, revisions, and the occasional hard-earned lesson from the shop. This work appears through build logs, videos, project documentation, and open design releases.
Whenever client permission allows, repair and modification work may also be recorded to show what was found, how it was addressed, and what changed.
We sell each of our guitars directly to the musician. We listen to your wants, and needs and deliver an instrument that is custom crafted to be an entirely unique piece of art as well as a completely playable great sounding instrument. If you have more specific needs for your instrument, feel free to email us and we will make a quote for you.
We also provide a wide range of instrument repair and modification services. Contact Us to learn more!
